It was necessary to modify the FPS-3 Antenna for use with the FPS-20A, so it had to be lowered to a horizontal position and the FPS-3 equipment had to be removed from it. This and the next few pictures complements of Frank Adams (1958 tour). Thanks!

Adams_Frank-sail-01.jpg
This sailboat visited Kume on a passage from Japan and I got a day sail aboard her because I had checked out his ham radio set for him. The vessel was the Bella Kaze. Photo by Frank Adams. Thanks!

I never saw much of "EJ the Wonder Dog." I'm not sure why that was so, maybe he hung out towards the receiver site end of the installation, where I didn't seem to go very often. I did see a lot of this dog as she seemed to frequent the area around Ops and the Power House. Photo courtesy of Frank Adams (1958 tour).
